Introduce

In the vibrant, often overwhelming tapestry of Delhi, where urban sprawl meets historical grandeur, lies a unique sanctuary that offers a profound contrast to the city's ceaseless energy. We're talking about Sanjay Van, a sprawling "city forest" that isn't just a park but a wild, untamed expanse of nature nestled right within the metropolis. For Delhiites yearning for an authentic connection with the wilderness, a place where the city's hum fades into the rustle of leaves and the call of birds, Sanjay Van is an unparalleled escape.

Unlike manicured gardens or typical parks, Sanjay Van embraces its raw, natural form. It's a place where winding dirt trails lead you through dense foliage, around serene ponds, and even past remnants of ancient history. This expansive green lung serves as a vital ecological space and a haven for those seeking peace, exercise, and a genuine encounter with nature without leaving the city limits. It’s a reminder that even in urban chaos, pockets of untouched beauty can thrive, offering a truly surreal experience for anyone who steps into its leafy embrace.

Location and Accessibility

Sanjay Van's location is remarkably convenient for many parts of Delhi, especially South Delhi, making it an accessible natural retreat. You'll find this expansive city forest at G5MJ+4GR, accessible via Internal Path, Seth Sarai, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, Delhi 110016, India. Its proximity to established neighborhoods like Vasant Kunj and Mehrauli means it's woven into the urban fabric while still maintaining its wild character.

Reaching Sanjay Van is relatively straightforward for Delhi residents. For those utilizing the Delhi Metro, the nearest stations on the Magenta Line, such as IIT Delhi or Munirka, would be points from which one could take a short auto-rickshaw or cab ride to the forest entrance. Various DTC bus routes also serve the Vasant Kunj and Mehrauli areas, providing public transport options that drop you reasonably close to the forest perimeter. If you prefer to drive, there are usually informal parking spots available near the various entry points, though these can fill up, especially on weekends. The internal paths are, of course, for walking and cycling, not for vehicles.

The beauty of Sanjay Van’s location is its ability to feel utterly removed from the city once you're inside, despite being so close to major residential and commercial hubs. This makes it an ideal spot for a quick escape or a regular dose of nature therapy.

This is spread in a huge area where you can enjoy the jungle vibes while walking or going for a run. A good place filled with greenery which is unusual to find in NCR. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes and shoes as there is a lot of walking involved.

Amazing forest in the heart of the city. Very peaceful for morning walk with very less crowd. If you miss butterflies in the city, then come to this place to see various species of butterflies. Good views of the city from many places. It has remains of an old fort called Lal kot. The place is hilly with ups and downs on rocks, so try to be in good shoes if you want to reach on top areas to see the breathtaking views of the jungle and city. A good place for birdwatching and relaxing away from the hustle and bustle of the city.Check out for Some nature based activities which are held here frequently by DDA and other private bodies.
