Features / Highlights

The Walls Of Qila Lal Kot and Sanjay VanView offer a distinctive combination of historical grandeur and natural serenity, making it a unique and cherished highlight for Delhi residents.

  • Historical Significance of Qila Lal Kot: The primary highlight is the presence of "The Walls Of Qila Lal Kot." These ancient ramparts belong to Lal Kot, believed to be the first city of Delhi, built by the Tomar Rajputs. Walking along these walls offers a tangible connection to Delhi's earliest documented history, making it a living heritage site.
  • Expansive Green Space of Sanjay Van: The area is seamlessly integrated with Sanjay Van, a vast urban forest that is part of the Delhi Ridge. Promotions or Special Offers

The Walls Of Qila Lal Kot and Sanjay VanView, as a vast public natural and historical area, do not operate on a commercial model and therefore do not offer traditional promotions, discounts, or special offers in the manner of a private business. The fundamental "offer" to the public is its free and open access, providing immense historical, recreational, and environmental value without any entry fees.

Any "special" activities or benefits associated with this area would typically be non-commercial and related to its public nature:

  • Free Public Access: The primary benefit is the availability of this expansive green and historical space to all residents and visitors at no cost. This makes it an equitable resource for recreation, history, and nature appreciation.
  • Organized Walks and Events: Occasionally, environmental groups, heritage organizations, or community associations might organize free or low-cost guided nature walks, heritage trails, birdwatching sessions, or clean-up drives within Sanjay Van and around Lal Kot. These are community-driven initiatives rather than official park promotions.
  • Environmental Awareness Programs: Given Sanjay Van's role as a forest, the Department of Forests & Wildlife might conduct awareness campaigns or tree-planting drives, which would be open to public participation.

Visitors interested in such events should look for announcements from local environmental NGOs, heritage groups, or official government websites pertaining to Delhi's forests and historical sites. The consistent availability of this vast, unique space for free is its most significant and continuous "promotion" for the well-being and enrichment of Delhi's populace.

Contact Information

For a large, integrated public space like The Walls Of Qila Lal Kot and Sanjay VanView, which combines a historical site with a vast forest area, there isn't a single, dedicated public contact number for the "park" itself. Management responsibilities are typically shared across multiple government departments.

Address:
G5JM+9CG, Qila Rai Pithora, New Delhi, Delhi 110016, India

For inquiries related to the historical aspects of Qila Lal Kot or any archaeological concerns, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) would be the primary contact authority. Their general contact details are available on the official ASI website (asi.nic.in). For matters concerning the forest area of Sanjay Van, including its maintenance, wildlife, or ecological concerns, the Department of Forests & Wildlife, Government of NCT of Delhi, would be the relevant body. Their contact information can typically be found on the Delhi government's official portals (e.g., forest.delhigovt.nic.in). While a direct phone number for the combined area is not publicly listed, the precise address and its clear identification with Qila Rai Pithora ensure easy location for visitors. For serious grievances or specific questions, contacting the respective government departments is the most effective approach.

This is perhaps the last bastion left to see the old and heritage with new life across a small patch of green belt. The boundary walls of Lal Kot is not only traceable but is a great trekking path at he boundary of Mehrauli, perhaps the cusp of first and second Delhi as we know them historically.

Another unexplored part of the Sanjay van Forest. Can get v nice views from here, especially at dawn during sunrise. Sunset would be good too, but after that it gets really dark and would not be safe finding one's way back out of the park.

Nice place to hang out, lush green place in heart 💓 of Delhi. Beware of snakes( especially the poisonous one like Cobra and vipers 🐍). Great place to escape from all the stressful life to a simple and calmer place. Highly recommend place and must add on if your coming to Qutub Minar. Great place for changing your DP too.
